PSHE/RSE 2023-2024

Our Federation demonstrates a serious commitment to safeguarding, behaviour and safety and therefore has been careful to ensure that the PSHE/ RSE Curriculum it has chosen to adopt is one that is recognised as high quality, has been awarded the Quality Mark of the PSHE Association and bears the Kitemark.

It is our aim here at Adderley to ensure that we provide a comprehensive and engaging PSHE/ RSE Curriculum which fully meets the needs of every child. It is our understanding that each child arrives at our school in a position unique to themselves and we therefore develop skills and understanding from this personal baseline. We understand that social skills and learning readiness are unique to each and every child and therefore tailor and adpapt our PSHE/ RSE curriulum in order to meet these needs.

As a federation we value and recognise that high-quality life skills enhance a child's educational experience and therefore ensuring that we provide a holistic approach to our curriculum by which we encourage all our young minds to explore and experience the management of these skills is essential in order for each child to meet their potential and to lead safe, healthy and happy lives. Our curriculum supports PSHE, RSE, Fundamental British Values, Health education, SMSC development and safeguarding. Whilst ensuring our programme of study provides full coverage of the statutory elements for Relationship Education and Health Education it is vital that we go beyond this and support our chidlren in the development of the skills required, at all ages to manage, as part of their personal development, concepts such as; difference, influence, resilience and pressure.

Across the Addmore Federation we believe that ensuring a high-quality PSHE/ RSE curriculum will inspire pupils to develop their curiosity and fascination about the world around them, and support them in their developmnet as conscientious, healthy global citizens who are advocates for all.

RSE

For your children to have the very best relationships and sex education, the government is clear that they consider it vitally important that schools and parents and carers work in partnership to deliver key messages. You, as parents play a unique and pivotal role in talking to your children about relationships, particularly in their early years. You have an emotional relationship with your child and know them better than anyone.

The reosurces that we use across the Federation to deliver the RSE Curriculum are designed to initiate conversations about feelings and emotions from early years and beyond, using colourful animated storybooks. If you would like to find out further information regarding our PSHE/ RSE Curriculum please do not hesitate to contact us here at the school. You can also access the parent portal of the 1decision website using this link. This section of the website is designed for parents and carers of children who attend schools that are using the 1decision programme, as is the case across the AddMore Federation.

In addition to this we also have within school a resource centre, where parents can borrow RSE books to share with their children, a list of books available can be found at the bottom of this page. We regualrly add new titles so please do not hesitate to use this facility or likewise just pop in for a browse!
