Teaching and Learning Council 2022-2023

Hello and welcome to our Teaching and Learning School Council Class Page.

We are the Teaching and learning council and we are important beacuse we help the Teachers and Governors in our school make important decisions about the curriculum in our school. We represent the pupils, giving their views and opinions a voice.

As a council we also offer valued contributions towards how our learning experiences could be devloped and the ways that these experiences could be made even more fun and memorable! We also discuss ways in which pupils in our school can engage positively with our community by discussing rewards, incentives and opportunities to mark acheivements.

Finally, we also look ahead to how we can continue to imporve by making sugegstions for our school website, future plans for the school and fun themed days!

We look forward to sharing our updates with you!

World Book Day

On Thursday 2nd Mrach, the Teaching and Learning Counil planned and ran a number of activities to help us celebrate World Book Day. Including creating book reviews for our new recommended reading area of the library, giving children a chance to talk about their favourite books and share recommendations. These have given us plenty ideas of new books to read over the Easter Break! We joined with children across the country online to learn about some popular children’s authors and their favourite books from school. We enjoyed reminiscing about some of the first books we remembering reading and the memories they brought it.

The Teaching and Learning Council have taught year 2 children how to complete quizzes on Accelerated Reader. This is an online quiz which they can complete after they have finished most books and which will keep track of how many words they have read over the year. The Teaching and Learning Council are planning to create leader boards and displays in the classrooms where we can record the number of words read and celebrate our reading successes.

Our newly trained Librarians introduced themselves to the school and spoke about how we can use the library at school, they are excited to launch open library sessions from next week where children will be able to access the library during lunch times and borrow books for 2 weeks.

We finished the morning with a ‘Drop Everything and Read’ session, where we all had time to read for pleasure and enjoy a range of new books and stories.
